Anne McKiernan (Vice Chair Devon memory café consortium) re memory café engagement for Sand

“The absolute highlight was the slow-motion juggling with feathers, which had everyone mesmerised and holding their collective breath! It was moving to see the man  living with dementia blowing the feather back-he was totally caught up in that moment and was a delight to join in .your performance was totally engaging for the people with their carers and they have already asked when you are coming back."

Helen Lanagan London Mime

"I’m always longing to see work that shows me something different - something I haven't seen before. This show is just that - a beautiful, skilful use of props, tricks and acrobatics which I can well imagine will be even more breathtaking with atmospheric lighting. Dementia touches so many of our lives and can be a difficult theme to tackle, but the Kook Ensemble is doing this with great sensitivity and grace. Bravo."

Rachel Twig head of National Theatre Studios

“It had such poise, craft and beauty to it, I think it may have even given me goosebumps.  I was also attracted to telling stories without language.  In addition the use of sand to represent someone slipping away captured my imagination.  The fusion of music and circus was something I thought we were very well placed to support, so that’s why I wanted to support you.”

“So great to have you making with us and contributing towards the vibe and ethos of what we were trying to achieve. I'm really grateful for you going above and beyond for the programme. The show was wonderful, huge congratulations!"

Lucy Underhill, Lyric Theatre, Bridport

"I really loved it, as did the audience. Lots of lovely feedback from people at the end of the night.

The play has really stayed with me, such an imaginative interplay between darkness and light, melancholy and humour, absurdity and stark reality.

REVIEWS
Elasticity and Emotion.

It's so thoroughly endearing that we'd happily watch it again.  Shadows on the wall, equal parts playful and moving as it switches between joy and fear at breakneck speeds. There is so much good to say for this show."
